Most of the self-serving, self-promotional advertising and marketing gives one dentist a short-term advantage to the long-term detriment of all other dentists...ultimately including themselves. There is a lot of "stupid" advertising and marketing going on right now. I have already seen several cities around the country where dentists are using Free Dentistry, Free Whitening For Life, and Free Dental Implants. There is obviously some "bait and switch" or up sell taking place. But I believe that the wrong type of advertising and marketing is bad for dentistry. The smart way is to create educational messages that are good for dentistry.
